e-AGE 2017
Under the patronage of under the patronage of His Excellency Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, e-AGE 2017 took place at the League of Arab States, Cairo, Egypt during 3-4 December 2017, with more than 100 participants, including academics, network professionals, researchers, scientists, and high-level decision makers from governments, enterprises, NGOs, embassies, academia, and civil society from over 40 countries.
 
Representatives from many countries participated in e-AGE meetings including Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Greece, Iraq, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Luxembourg, Morocco, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Sudan, Tunisia, the UAE, the UK, and the USA.
 
e-AGE 2017 focused on “EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND INNOVATION” as the main theme of the conference and all activities was centered on it:

e-AGE 2015
Under The royal patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco, e-AGE 2015 conducted in Casablanca, Morocco during 7-8 December 2015, hosted by the National Centre for Scientific and Technical Research (CNRST), with 200 high-level attendance from over 45 countries. e-AGE 2015 focused on “Revealing and Harvesting Knowledge” as the main theme of the conference as ASREN continued to expand within the context of EUMEDCONNECT3, Africa Connect 2, and MAGIC projects.
 
e-AGE 2015 included several events and activities:
  • The 5th annual meeting of ASREN
  • The 8th Event on Euro-Mediterranean e-Infrastructure
  • EUMEDCONNECT3 and Africaconenct2 Project Meetings
  • AROQA 7th Annual Conference
  • MAGIC workshop
 
e-AGE 2015 paid attention to users, applications, services and inclusion of stakeholders in research and education and related services to enable and to facilitate collaboration to encourage resources and knowledge sharing.
The e-Infrastuctures evolving in the Arab region at both national and regional levels as more than 15 Arab countries now have NRENs in place or starting their NREN. At the regional level, ASREN announced the operation of the Arabian Global Educational Open PoP (AGE-OP) in London Telicity in cooperation with GEANT Association, Ankabut announced the operation of the first Arab Global Educational Open Exchange AGE-OX  in Fujairah in cooperation with Internet2.

e-AGE 2014
Under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Taimur Bin As’ad Al Said, Assistance Secretary General for Communication at The Research Council of Oman, e-AGE 2014, took place in Muscat, Oman during 10-11 December 2014, with more than 200 high-level participation and delegates from over 40 countries. More than 60 speakers in 13 sessions and roundtables discussed topics related to e-Infrastructures, applications, services and research initiatives and success stories. e-AGE 2014 received more than 20 paper submissions too.
 
In e-AGE 2014, the main focus was on “Intercontinental Connectivity of the Pan Arab Network” as the main theme of the event. ASREN started concrete steps towards connecting researchers and academics across the Arab States by launching its first PoP in London Telicity and working with its partners on new PoPs in UAE, Egypt and the western part of the Arab Region.
 
e-AGE 2014 included events, workshops, meetings centered on the following themes:

e-AGE 2013
Under the patronage of His Excellency Moncef Ben Salem, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Tunisia and hosted by The Computing Center Al Khwarizmi (CCK), e-AGE 2013 took place in Tunisia during 9-13 December 2013. e-AGE 2013 was attended by more than 120 participants, representing over 30 countries from around the world.
 
e-AGE 2013 was planned on the basis of three main themes: Connect --–> Access ----> Innovate, it included several events and activities:

Under the patronage of His Excellency Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Higher education and Scientific Research, e-AGE 2012, took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates during 12-13 December 2012. e-AGE 2012 was attended by more than 200 academics, network professionals, researchers, scientists, and high level decision makers from governments, enterprises, NGOs, academia, and civil society from over 40 countries. e-AGE 2012 centered on “Collaborate towards developing the regional e-Infrastructures“ as the main theme of the conference.
 
e-AGE2012 included several regional events and activities that focused on research, education and e-Infrastructures:
  • The 5th Event on Euro-Mediterranean e-Infrastructure
  • The 2nd annual meeting of ASREN
  • CHAIN-REDS kickoff meeting
 
Moreover special sessions have been dedicated to specific domains, mainly focusing on experiences in connectivity and e-Infrastructure, applications and services in the scientific domains, and case studies with impact indicators and measures.

e-AGE 2011
Under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, e-AGE 2011 took place in Amman, Jordan during 12-14 December 2011. It was attended by more than 200 high-level representatives including ministers, government officials, policy makers, academics, network engineers, NREN representatives, researchers and scientists from over 30 countries.
 
e-AGE 2011 presented the status and future opportunities to develop Pan-Arab research and education network integration models and beyond to Europe, the US, and the globe at large, under the title “Together We Shape the Future of Research and Education Networks”. e-AGE 2011 included three regional events that focused on research and education e-Infrastructures:
  • The 4th Event on Euro-Mediterranean  e-Infrastructure
  • Internet2 SIG Middle East Meeting
  • The 1st Annual Meeting of ASREN
  • EUMEDGRID Support Meeting and workshop
  • EUMEDCONNECT3 Project Meeting
 
In conclusion, participants emphasized that Arab countries face scientific, knowledge, and cultural challenges and that Arab youth, specialists and researchers are knowledge creators towards innovation and development - “the best way to predict the future is to create it”. e-Infrastructures support the development of knowledge through access to resources, computing facilities and services.
