Towards Integrating of Arab e-Infrastructure

We, the participants of the 1st International Platform on Integrating Arab e-Infrastructure in the Global Environment which shall be held at the Four Seasons Hotel December 12-14, 2011, declare and affirm our desire and commitment to develop the scientific infrastructure in the Arab world, and to motivate and encourage the partnerships and exchange of the best practices to integrate the scientific research networks with global networks.

This unique Platform constitutes a real opportunity to enhance awareness and knowledge among decision makers, experts, researchers and Arab societies on the benefits and importance of the development of scientific infrastructure in the Arab world where it can result in a quantum leap in sustainable development.

Accordingly, we are determined to put the outcomes of the Platform into practice, and to proceed further with our efforts as much as possible to implement the Integrating of Arab e-infrastructure in the Global Environment.

We emphasize that decision-makers "governments", the private sector and the specialized international authorities should exercise their roles and cooperate with the concerned parties to achieve the goals and objectives of the Platform.

In this connection, we would like to extend our thanks to the European Union in particular, EUROPEAN COMMISSION Directorate General INFORMATION SOCIETY MEDIA (DG-NFSO) for their support for the establishment of the scientific infrastructure in the Arab countries surrounding the Mediterranean through the Euro-Med network and e- networking projects.

We also would like to emphasize that the youth of the Arab countries are capable of contributing in shaping knowledge availing the information and communication revolution that has become essential and necessary for sustainable and economic development, along with the flow of investments and strengthening the capacity of institutions and projects to increase productivity.

We are all convinced that by will and determination and through cooperation and partnerships between governments, private sectors and stockholders enhanced by the international cooperation and solidarity such objectives become achievable. We shall continue with our efforts following this Platform with steady determination to overcome and face the challenges encountering the technical connecting.

In the light of the foregoing, this Platform has decided to choose Jordan as a regional hub to integrating Arab e-infrastructure, under the supervision and management of the Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN) and to follow up the directions, decisions and recommendations set by the Platform.

We commit ourselves to the full implementation of the outcomes of the Platform as stated in the document.
