Messaoud Harfouche is one of the experts in the X-ray Absorption Fine structure in the region and in the world. He has been in this field for more than 15 years. After getting his PhD from France in Giomaterials, he integrated the world of synchrotron as a Postdoc at the Swiss Light Source -SLS- (Paul Scherrer institut). During Postdoc fellow and in addition to his research topics in the domain of nuclear waste storage, he massively participated in the construction of the micro-XAS beamline. Than he became a beamline scientist in charge of the construction and operation of the super-XAS beamline at SLS. Lately, he joined SESAME with his experience acquired in SLS (one of the most advanced synchrotron) where he constructed and successfully run the first synchrotron-based beamline in the region (XAFS/XRF beamline) which is operational and open for users.
