Bio: Barbé Thierry, Head of Unit for “Knowledge, Statistics and Data Hub” DG DEVCO, European Commission, Belgium
Thierry BARBÉ works at the European Commission, where he leads the unit in charge of “Knowledge, Statistics and Data Hub” in the Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development since July 2020.
Prior to this, from 2015 to 2019, he was the Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Burkina Faso where he was overseeing the EU development activities at bilateral level.
Thierry Barbé has been working in the Development sector within the European Commission since 2001. He has occupied several positions as team leader, covering mainly Western Africa and Eastern and Southern Africa.
Before joining the European Commission, Thierry Barbé worked in the Public health sector in several African countries. Prior to this, he worked as humanitarian doctor (Afghanistan) and paediatrician (Tunisia). He holds a Diploma of Doctor of Medicine and a Diploma of Complementary Specialized Studies in Paediatrics. He also holds a Master in Public Health from the Berkeley University.
