Bio: Shaher Zyoud, Director General for Development & Scientific Research, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Palestine

Shaher Zyoud is currently the Director-General, General Directorate for Development & Scientific Research, Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research (MOHE), Palestine. He is responsible to manage and implement the strategy of MOHE with respect to reinforcing scientific research activities, development, and technological transformation. Dr. Shaher Zyoud is Associate Professor in Civil Engineering. Formerly, Zyoud occupied the position of Head Department: Building Engineering & Environment Department and Civil Engineering & Sustainable Structures Department, Palestine Technical University, Palestine. He has PhD in civil engineering, Graz University of Technology, Austria. His research interests are devoted to developing methodologies and tools to protect our environment and water resources. These interests cover fields of research related to civil engineering and environmental research such as climate change, smart cities, integrated infrastructure, air pollution, solid waste management, groundwater, wastewater, pharmaceutical wastewater, nanotechnology, quality of water, and desalination research. The utilization of decision-making techniques to solve complex problems in fields of research related to civil engineering and the development of expert systems in this regard are within the core of my research. Furthermore, I have interests on following and analyzing scientific research activities in different fields of science at regional and global levels utilizing scientometric analyses, and information science tools to map scientific knowledge.
